essay 1

In King Claudius's statement, "Madness in great ones must not unwatched go," I think that he is trying to say that you can spot out the bright people and that you should keep an eye on them and watch them grow or maybe watch them fall, it all depends. Maybe if you get lucky you will be checking up on someone who has very much potential.
First off, lets say someone has a baby and they start developing all their skills way before they are supposed to right, so that can usually say something about that baby, maybe that it is going to be really smart, or maybe it will be like a super genius, who knows?
Secondly, in some recent news stories, we have been following some of the arabian people trying to find out where osama bin laden is because he is a very big threat to the United States, thats one example of how we can follow some of the great ones. Sometimes, lets say we follow a really good basketball player so what we have to do is look through their career and there you go!
In our societies, the way that we keep "checks and balances" as they say is we just follow the people who exel in what they do. Lets say we hear about a really good soccer player who just straight demolishes all the competition in his league, so what we do is we go and check up on him, see how he plays, see what his grades are like, all those factors come into play.
In conclusion, it is our job to search and find the people that are great in what they do. All the people fight over them because they want all these famous and strong people to lets say do a commercial for them, which in return gives the player fame, but makes the company millions upon millions of dollars, but in the end it just all works out the way its supposed to!

essay 2

In many of the modern movies, the relationships with the stepparents and the kids tend to be quite good for many reasons. For instance, children do not sometimes feel comfortable around their parents, so they turn to their stepparents for help. Usually, the stepparents spoil their children because they know that they need that little extra niceness from their older ones and they always know what they want.
Firstly, on the fact that children do not sometimes feel comfortable around their parents but they know that their stepparents or grandparents will always be there for them because they know that they are always there for them no matter what the circumstances may be. In addition to this, the grandparents or stepparents can consider their grandchildren basically their own because their children had a baby and that basically makes it theirs, if you see where I am coming from.
Secondly, yes I do have some experience with stepparents, I have a stepdad that I can basically call my dad. He has always been there for me when we needed help. He was the one who was there to take care of my dad when he was sick because nobody else would. I think that stepparents can be the best thing in the world other than your real parents, because they basically are your parents, they just don't get to be called "dad" or "mom."
Lastly, the stepparents or grandparents, are the ones who always spoil and cherish their little children because they are all usually old and they have nothing really left to spend their money on so they decide to spend it on their grandchildren so they at least know that they got something good if they didn't from their parents already. It just gives them a better feeling knowing that at least they get taken care of by somebody.
In conclusion, stepparents are good to have, but in some cases they can be the worst. I have a friend who has a stepdad who treats him like crap and thats just not right, but the kid has to live with it everyday. But, thats not to say that they are all like that, I'm saying that they are a good thing to have because they are always there for you.

Thinker or Doer

I would classify myself as a doer because I tend to not think before I act which would make me a doer. I think that being a doer can have its advantages because they do things without thinking, but at the same time it can be bad because it usually force you to make the wrong choice because you are rushed.
I think that the way that I am right now is the way that I want to stay, because I changed already and I like the change this time. There's isnt really anything that I'd change about me if I could unless you could change personal features, but you can't do that so.

spying on your kids

I think that Ophelia spyed on Hamlet.
I do not think that parents have the right to spy on their kids because kids need to have their privacy because without it then it kinda sucks. but if parents check up on their kids they have an idea of what their kids is doing and they can find out or know and even help them if they need it, say your kid is into drugs and you dont know it, but then you can check up on them and you can usually tell if someone is doing this. parents also have every right to spy on their kids, its just not cool, because as kids we dont like to be spyed on, it feels weird, almost as if our parents dont trust us, I mean I dont doubt them, but they have nnothing to worry about because they shouldnt try to control our lifes.

can a maxed out nation find true riches

I do not think the way that the wealthy people keep on spending their money the way they are, not caring and buying things that they probably will only use once and then never use again, will not make our thriftiness last as long as the recession. All these millionaires keep on spending millions of dollars to put towards their personal use, I mean there's nothing wrong with it, but theres more that they could do with their money that could benefit us in the long run.

If the people who are rich would have spent their money on things that could benefit us we would have alot more advantages and we would have alot more things that would help, we would have better roads, wider freeways, faster cars, more convenient things that we use in our everyday life.

At times, my family is spending too much and I mean I've tried telling my dad to try and save his money, but I think he knows whats hes doing because he keeps stocking our pantry up with things that dont have to be cooked and lots of jugs of water and all that good stuff just incase something does happen we will be okay for awhile until everything gets back to the way its supposed to be.

parents advice

I think that advice from your parents is probably the best advice you can get, especially if you have older parents, because that makes them wiser and they usually know alot more than you do because they have been through those rough times and experienced and had to find out the hard way about everything. The advice they give me is really good, but me being stupid I usually dont listen, I mean I listen but I tend to when I have the chance, dont listen to the advice they gave me. Like driving for instance, my dad kept telling me to quit speeding or someday I'm going to get pulled over and I didnt believe him, and haha one day I got pulled over. I was so mad, I wish I would have listened to what he was saying the entire time.

story of revenge

when i was younger all my older cousins and friends would pick on me because i was smaller. just about everyday that i chilled with them they would do something to make me mad and it would hella irritate me, but i was too small to do anything so i would just brush it off because i knew that if i tried, it would end up worse. this went on for awhile, or at least until i started growing then they stopped messing with me. but also i did something that they will never forget that was worth my while. one day we had everybody together on i think it was thanksgiving. everyone was having a good time hanging out kicking it and watching football. all the little kids and older kids were off doing their things and the adults were watching the game. so i ran into the little kids room and asked if they would give me a hand to get the bigger kids, of course they agreed, so i had some soldiers. we stayed in the room for awhile and thought of something really good that would make them really mad, and then it clicked, we would go get squirt guns and water balloons and go next door and hit and ambush all the bigger kids. so it came to about midnight and everyone was asleep except for the little kids and me, so we got everything set up and started sneaking around the house quietly and came upon the room where everyone was that we wanted to get back. so we walked up to the door and i asked if everyone was ready and they all replied yea! so i opened the door and we just ran in and ambushed them, they werent even ready at all, they were straight asleep, so we started unloading on them and they started to get hella mad, so then we ran, but thats about it.

big three

I think that its an extremely good idea to merge the three companies. for one reason with one company all three could come up with ideas together and make like a super car that would be better than any of the competition. they could combine all the names "cadforvy" is what they would be. they would be like the best ever.
Alot of people depend on cars to get places so why not make one with all 3 ideas that could like dominate and take over the world within their own car. thats how smart and how powerful the cars will be if they are combined.
And lastly, its a good idea for them to merge because then there will only be one type of car as to 3 which takes up more room on lots and more companies that would need money for sponsorships, its just a good idea in the long run.

program for getting kids interested in college

I think its important because alot of kids throughout their high school years tend to overlook college and not really go out and get all the information that they need to get to be able to apply or be accepted into a decent college. Unless the information is brought to the kids, they dont really go out in search of what they need unless they really care about their education, or because their parents give them a little push, which I think is good, because then that shows that your parents want you to be successful and to succeed in life.
The statewide average of a student graduating from highschool, achieveing a bachelors degree or higher is 10.5%. The average for shasta county is 6.2% for a student graduating from highschool, getting a bachelors degree, or higher. I think that college options is a great tool for kids to become involved in because it can help them get their life on track and pursue the career they want, and they dont have to do it by themselves, because they have help along the way from peers, parents, and people from the college options.
I think their is such a difference because in shasta county, we have smaller high schools which means less people attending, less staff, and less money coming in and out to go towards education and whatever the school needs. I personally, plan on achieving a bachelors degree so I can further my career and become successful in what I want to do. Statewide, such as downsouth, like LA and Sacramento, have huge highschools because the population is so much larger which means that there will be more people that at least have the chance to go to college, but most choose not.

bridge to nowhere

The bridge to nowhere is a bridge to an airport. Its famous because our governor was bragging about how she stopped it on national television and just like that they were back on the front page. The writer doesn't like that they call the place they live "nowhere" because it is actually a place and they are apart of it. Yes, I think that he is correct because he says theres a year round population of 14,000-making it the fourth largest community in the state. They also forgot to add the more than 250,000 people who pass through the airport every year, and nearly 1 million tourists who go there each summer.

Worst Ads on TV

I think that pescription drugs are good and bad for many reasons. They can only be prescribed to people who have the symptoms that ar listed for the medication, but that is usually adults or people who really have something wrong with them. The problem with that is that kids can get ahold of these drugs and its just another household item that can get them high. Kids start to abuse these drugs, and eventually overdose or get very sick. Also kids take so much of the medication and so often that their immune system starts to change and that makes them need more and more of the meds and they will go to any extent to get them because they have gotten addicted to it not because its the thing to do, but it makes them high and they dont have to pay for it. I think that you should have to go to the doctor to get any kind of medication because for one you can be allergic to it, and for another reason never take anything that you dont know what it is or what it does, that can really mess you up, kids see a pill lying around, they'll walk up to it, snatch it, and not even think twice, thats just how kids are these days. One very good example of this is medicinal marijuana, it is only prescribed to people who have problems that are above what pills can take care of. It can be used for medicinal purposes, but, it is very hard to get ahold of this.

Samuelson

Sincethe 1940's, America has suffered 10 recessions. They usually only last around 10 months, but we are about to go into another recessions, but joblessness would have to increase alot to match other highs. Herbert Hoover for example, expanded public works to try and get out of the slump. The Great Depression that came after the stock market crashed in October 1929 was a different challenge. By the low point in July 1932, stocks had dropped almost 90 percent from where they usually are. Some other things included:bankruptcies, foreclosures, bread lines—lasted a decade. Even in 1940, unemployment was almost 15 percent. Not like most recessions, the Depression submitted not to its self marketing mechanisms or government policies. Another example would be:from 1929 to 1933, two fifths of the nation's banks failed, depositor runs were epic, and the money supply declined by more than a third. Samuelson thinks that what we see now is a very big effort to prevent a repeating of this destructive chain reaction by which a disfunctional financial system compounds the economic downturn. In reality the treasurery is bailing out the Fed, which have already lent them money. The economy is going to get very worse.

My future plans

After this year of school I plan on attending Shasta College and furthering my knowledge about computers and everything that I can. I am currently taking CISCO, which is a computer networking college class that i get to take early. I do not plan on going into the military, but something along the lines might change my mind, but it will have to be something really spectacular or I'm not going to join. Some of the reasons I would join the military or even consider it would be if I got to be a sharpshooter, or I got to work on computers and radar and be able to further my career that way. Other than that I just plan on working for a good company where I can make a decent amount of money with the knowledge that I have obtained throughout my school years. I hope by the time im 18 that I will have my own apartment, have my act together, have my own car, have a job and all that good stuff.

Nice Bailout, Now Pay For It.

I think that we should bail them out because of all the economic problems we are already having. I mean 700 billion dollars is a whole lot of money. With that money we could do alot with the world, we could educate people where its needed, we could build more attractions in our cities to get more popularity, there's alot of stuff we could do. But in returning this money, it could help alot, its either we do it now and hopefully the interest doesnt be so high. but if we were to wait longer, we would have to pay out more in the future. I also think that it's not cool to play with the people's money, I think that this case will be very drawn out because I'm sure that people are going to complain because it might lower minimum wage because of shortage of money, but what do I know, I'm just brainstorming. In paying this off it could put us in a bigger hole than we are already in. But at the same time I think that we should not bail them out, because they made the mistake, why not have them pay it for the rest of their lives. But thats just what I think.

How to fight binge drinking

I think that we should both lower the age to drink and not lower the age for drinking for many reasons. Its hard to pick a side on this topic because just about anyone can get alcohol these days. Now I will tell you why I think this.
Firstly, I think that lowering the age to drink would be a good thing mainly because it would stop kids from drinking so much so quickly because they are trying to do it under the radar so they consume it quicker and it makes them more drunk. If the age was 18, I think that alot of people would maybe be happier and not as mad at the government and the store owners when they try and come in and say theyre 21 and they get denied.
In another sense, I think that they shouldnt lower the age because people at a lower age are less mature and dont know how to handle it as well as older people. Alcohol causes lots of deaths, sicknesses, and lots of other things. If we were to lower the age to 18, someone could go out on their 18th birthday, get their license, buy some alcohol, get drunk, and kill himself and or others just like that. Alcohol isnt something to mess around with. I think that it is very serious and whichever choice we make to either lower it or keep it I hope its for the best.
I take both sides on this topic, it can go either ways. I just wouldnt know how to respond if someone truthfully asked me which side Id be on because I cant, I mean if i was to, I would lean more towards the side of not lowering it because we see how many people it kills and how many accidents have happened due to alcohol. But it can also make people more happy and have the relief of not snooping around to do it.

Price of Our Addiction

If you call "war" a solid plan, then yes, but I dont think war is the right thing that we need to get oil. I think that we need to get more allies and come up with more oil. Well, my dad drives slow and not alot, but when he lets me drive I tend to drive fast even though I know that I am using more gas that I need to be. We don't use a heater that much, so yes I can say that we have changed our habits. I think the best alternative is to find another resource that we can use that acts like oil, but something we have plenty of, something that will act as an inhibitor and make cars and other vehicles that need oil able to run. I also think that we should maybe find a better way to hide the oil, because its a soft spot for terrorists to attack and it could ruin the world if we had no oil. I think that the U.S. has enough smart people to be able to overcome this problem and fix it and handle it to the best of their abilities. Oil is very important and I do not think that we can afford to lose it.

Big Bang Experiment

I think they should turn on it mainly because they already have put all this money into this project, why quit because of a couple flaws, they should keep on trying and make it absolutely perfect so that it is able to work. But also in another sense I think that they should not continue, after reading about what the outcomes could come to be I am scared to think of what happen to the Earth, because we have no way of knowing what could happen, nature has its tricks up its sleeves. I just also think that it was a very big waste of money, we could have used the money for something else rather than trying to get just a couple seconds of something that is important, but there is other things that are just as important or more important that we could have spent the money on. I think it could also mess with time and the way that it is right now and that could be very bad.

Sir Palamedes the Saracen

Also knows as Palamede, or Palomides, was a Knight of the Round Table in Arthurian legend His father was King Esclabor, his brothers Safir and Segwarides also join the Round Table later on. He is introduced as a knight fighting when asked upon to compete for Iseult at a tournament in Ireland against a knight by the name of Tristan. In the end, Palamedes loses to please the princess. Tristan then spares his life but forbids him to bear any arms for a year and to ever try and hook up with the princess again. After her wedding, Palamedes rescues her servant, becomes a member of the Round Table, and is faced with a number of duels with Tristan, which eventually either end prior to a postponement or ended without a clear winner. Throughout their lives they share a love-hate relationship. Yet some stories reveal Palamedes background to be as followed: his father is a king of Babylon who is sent to Rome where he saves the life of the emperor. He then travels to Britian where he once again rescues and betrays King Pellinore. Many tales also have classified Palamedes as the hunter of the Questing Beast, which only the chosen can kill. However during the Grail Quest, he is released from his bindings, and with the help of two knights, Percival and Galahad, trap the beast in a lake where Palamedes slays it once and for all.
