Pakistan Schooling
I think that the literacy rate over there is really low, they say about 20% since Independence 61 years ago. Now about only half of the Pakistinian population can read and write. One in three school-age Pakistani children does not attend school, and of those who do, a third drop out by fifth grade. Girls’ enrollment is among the lowest in the world, lagging behind Ethiopia and Yemen. The only thing I can think about this that will effect the rest of the world is that it might bring down our economy, our other countries will have to step up and help them, which Im sure in return they will give them aid for whatever they need if they can teach them. Then, that would create alot more allies throughout the world, which could cause alot of problems and could also possibly cause another war. If I was in Pakistan, I think I would go insane not being able to read or write, I cant imagine how they do it. But I think that their other senses would be stronger since they cant do that, maybe theyre alot better at combat type stuff, maybe there better at sports, who knows?

Star Wars
The single hero of this move is Luke Skywalker. He is the one who made the shot when no one else could, but he also had the help from Han Solo. Luke's mentor is Obi Wan, Han Solo, C3PO, and R2D2 also Princess Leah. Obi Wan was the one who got Luke to believe in the force when he didnt know what to do. Han said he has traveled across the galaxy and he wasnt sure if there was a such thing as the force. He had Luke put on a helmet and use his senses which they call the force to be able to block the incoming bullets from the little training droid thing. Then once he realizes that there might be something there that could be called the force, but he has to put it to the test first to see if it is really true. In the beginning of the movie, Luke had alot to learn because you know hes young and he doesnt know everything, but thats what everyone was there to help him, give him advice because they have been experienced through this kind of stuff before. Some of the helpers include: C3PO, R2D2, and Han Solo, even Chewbacca. C3PO saved them from being crushed when they were in the garbage disposal place. R2D2 also helped in that area because he is the one who actually stopped the trash from closing in on them, if they wouldnt have answered their little walkie talkie thing, they would have been dead. Han Solo helped Luke throughout the entire movie, especially the end when Luke was the only one left with bogies on his tail, and Han comes out of no where and blows them out of the sky so Luke can do what he was supposed to do. By the end of movie, Luke has alot more knowledge than he did because for one, he actually experienced combat, he got to be right in the middle of stuff, and he became a hero!

Earth Day
Yes, I think the writer is correct. I don't think I would have known today was Earth Day unless
I actually went to school and was made to do this assignment. Earth Day sounds like it is really important, but the reality is that its actually not very important, it only happens once a year, and now people are arguing it not even be worthy of one day per year. One person said that this month they are starting a "Screw Earth Day" campaign. Earth Day, in my opinion should be taken into consideration because well everything is based on the Earth and it should be taken care of to the best ability it can be. Me and my family truthfully dont do anything to really help protect the Earth, unless you consider not littering and cleaning up after myself helping protect the Earth.

Michael Vick
I think that this can go both ways, but thats just me. For one, what vick did was totally wrong and horrible, why would someone have dog fights for entertainment. I mean thats just not right, and especially considering that he was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, why would he risk everything just for entertainment and a little extra cash on the side, I mean why not deal drugs, that makes you some bank right there. what they are trying to do with Vick is probably one of the smartest thing that they could do because if they do have him do a brain scan and it comes up positive for psychopathic tendenies, then i think that he wont be aloud to go back into the NFL because he is still a danger to animals if not anything else. But, if he was to come up negative with the scan, then i think the NFL would accept him back, but most likely under some circumstances that Vick probably wont like but he will have to deal with or he wont play. I think that Vick learned his lesson doing 23 months in prison which isnt even up yet, but I am sure that in the time he was in there he regrets doing all that with the dogs and I think that he would most likely rather play football than go back to jail for dumb reasons like that. If he is allowed to come back to the NFL, Im not sure if he would be able to do as good as he used to two years ago, I mean before the dog incident, he threw for 2472 yards and ran for 1039 yards, so Im sure he might still have some of these skills. but why not give him a try, he was one of the best rookie quarterbacks ever in my opinion, he was like a tank, he could throw from all angles, he could run like a running back, and he had vision like an eagle, which made him a triple threat. I think if he proves himself worthy with animals, I mean like doing everything he can around his community to do anything and everything for animals showing to everyone that he has changed then i think that he will be allowed to play again.

Where Education and Assimilation Collide
I do not think anything should be changed because if they cant do what we do, then maybe they shouldn't be here. I mean wherever their from they know whats up and how to do stuff, then they come here and expect us to teach them everything about us and its kind of lame. I think at least they should learn to speak fluent english before they come here and try to live off us and take our stuff just like the Indians, but the immigrants take all our jobs that nobody else does so I guess that helps at times. If I was to help one of these students assimilate or whatever you call it, I would probably get really mad really easy because they don't know much about what's going on or whatever so. I dont have the most patience of most people, I hate waiting and having to repeat myself more than once so I would probably have a hard time helping one of these students.

stem cell research
yes i think that the United States should have the right to oppose the federal government on stem cell research. abortion opponents believe embryotic stem cell research is an assault on life in its earliest form. fertilized embryos are destroyed when stem cells are extracted from them for research. legal experts said the state measures restricting stem cell research raises constitutional concerns in a largely untested area of law. in georgia, a meassure that would ban some forms of stem cell research on fertilized embryos is moving quickly through the state Senate. the bill would outlaw the destruction of fertilized embryos, which the legislation defines as a person. it is expected to face a vote in the full state Senate later. obama's new approach will enable federally funded researchers to use hundreds of new embryonic stem cell lines. supporters believe the research could lead to treatments for major disorders such as Parkinson's disease and spinal injuries.

October 29, 2007 by:Citizen Reporter
Computer Vision Syndrome is one of the most common health risks involved with computers. Studies have shown that 75 to 90 percent of computer users may suffer from computer eye problems like computer eye fatigue and computer eye strain. The symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome fall into three broad categories. visual, ocular and general. The visual category includes blurred or double vision, changes in perception of color, glare and flickering sensations. The ocular category includes irritated or tired eyes, burning or itching eyes, excessive tears, dry eyes, excessive blinking, squinting, sore eyes, discomfort in contact lenses, sensitivity to light, etc. Finally the general category includes, neck and shoulder pain or tension, pain in the back or arms, headache, drowsiness or excessive fatigue, prone to making errors, nervousness and irritability. The most important cause of CVS symptoms is that the eye blink rate that should ideally be 16 per minute is reduced to 1/3 of this. This reduction in the blink rate causes dryness, irritation excessive tearing, itching, burning and redness of the eyes.

One of the dangers with computers is carpeltunnel, that can mess with you for the rest of your life and make it to where your not able to do everything you wanted to do. Another danger is people have researched that computer screens can mess with your eye sight, possibly have birth defects and even cancer, but its not for sure. It's worse if you stare at your computer screen in the dark rather than the light too. One way to prevent this is to get one of the new LCD monitors when you purchase a pc. One of the most simplest things but which is also one of the most dangerous features of a computer is Toner dust. Toner dust has been classified by the FDA a class-A carcinogen, which is believed to cause cancer. Some of the advantages of having a computer though are that with computers, there is such a broad span of accessories that can be accessed within itself that can help you do just about anything you can think of. Computers are used for information getting, school work, fun, research, weather, news, just about anything you can think of, a computer can do it with just a couple clicks.

Some disadvantages of computers include: they will increase educational costs and harm the equity of education, when it becomes prior for teachers and students to have computers to actually learn, it puts the lower class people in quite a pickle, they dont have the money for a pc which means that their kid cant learn what he needs to learn which isnt right just because of a lack of money. When a teacher and her class are using computers, it should be made sure that everyone knows how to operate one to do what they need to do or whats the point of having one if you cant do anything with it. We are still finding problems with computers all the time, being able to upgrade them, and they are always making newer versions so its really hard to keep up with the technology to get the maximum potential of the computer.

Death of the Dream
I think that it is unlikely for California to make a quick comeback for a couple reasons. It seems like we are in a depression right now, prices keep skyrocketing, gas is going up like crazy, and we are in alot of debt that we are not sure if we are even going to be able to pay back, yet alone think about the future. Things are only going to get worse as the years progress because babies are brought into this world every couple of minutes. Eventually, the world will be to small for everyone to live here, supplies will start to run low, people will start to die off, basically the only way you will be able to survive is if you are wealthy or you have good connections. That's just what I think.
I think that the writer wants there to be more jobs in the world so all the people without jobs can get out and make something out of their lives. Right now alot of people are getting laid off at work, people are getting fired, its hard to find a job these days. He wants to make jobs available for the people who actually went through school and got that little piece of paper certifying them for what they do best. Those are the kind of people we want, not the slackers just trying to pick up any job to put a little extra cash in their pocket while working at McDonald's.
I agree with him fully because we need as many smart people doing our work as we can because they are smart for a reason and they usually don't make mistakes, and if they do they are so minimal that they cant even be examined, but if they are, then they're fired or given another chance depending on who and where they work for.

budget clears legislature/ compromises
One of the biggest things that the senators agreed on is a budget that raises taxes, borrows from the future, and basically leaving everyone in the state a little less poorer in some way. Schwarzenegger tried to state the issues that we are having in our state, but he didnt get majority vote for it to be able to be passed onto Legislature. The budget bill contains 15 billion in spending cuts, 12.8 billion in temporary tax increases, 11.4 billion in the future, and the making of a 1 billion reserve fund. The budget bills feature billions of dollars in spending cuts for schools, healthcare will be dropped, and they greatly reduce the dependent credit that Californians may claim on their income taxes. In addition to this, they also added an increase of the state sales tax by 1%, and they also doubled the vehicle license fee to 1.5%. The budget is relying also on the federal stimulus dollars to get through the year. This new set of taxes is supposed to last for the next two years, but, if needed it could be extended for another 2 years.

favorite movie.
I think that my favorite movie of 08 would have to be the Dark Knight. Its one of my favorites because I really like the story behind the movie, how one can man with nothing to live for, nothing to bargain with, can turn a really powerful man against himself and make him make the wrong choices and have basically the entire city against him. Its too bad batman died, he did a really good job making this movie, I think it was most definately one of his best for sure.

OBAMA.
Now, with Obama as President, I think that alot of things are going to change in this world. It seems like the things that are going to happen will most likely turn out bad, but Obama might be able to turn around the economy, but in turn he might also not succeed, I think that we will find out in his first 100 days of being president.
Nationally, I think that with Obama as president, he has a good chance of helping out America come out of the depression that we are falling in to. But, if he fails, everyone will hate him and blame him for not doing everything that he can for his country.
Locally, I dont think that Obama as president will change much in our community. Its already really little, the only thing that I can think of that would be bad for us is if prices sky rocketed and the unemployment rate went up. That would be a problem.
Personally, I dont really care about what Obama does, just as long as he doesnt make things worse than they already are, because if that happened there would be a problem, and alot of people would be in trouble.

two stories.
In my years of school there's alot that I learned, but very little that I will use in my life and in the real world. Some of the things that I did learn though is that a simple please and thank you gets you alot further than if you were to be rude. I have also learned that even on the days that I feel like crap I still get up and go to school and at least give effort towards my education, because if I at least show interest or participation, it gets me further, and it shows that I am willing to work. Just like in the real world, stealing is not acceptable and you can be punished for it. But, in school they call it plagiarizing, which is the same thing, except for its stealing someone elses work and then calling it your own, which in turn gets you a failing grade. Why not just do the work yourself, your only hurting yourself if you copy because then you dont learn anything at all, and thats not the point, you go to school to learn. In school I also learned how to work with a variety of people, from people who just sit there and do nothing, to the people who actually care about their grades and want to do something with their lives. I admit it, I have been caught cheating before, it didn't turn out good. My friend and I ended up receiving F's on the assignment and we got a call home from our teacher. Oh, our parents didnt like that. We both ended up being grounded for a month.

Hamlet's Character.
Yes I think that Hamlet is a victim of circumstance. No I think that Hamlet is capable of action. Yes i strongly agree that Hamlet is really an ambitious prince who lusts for power. Yes I think that Hamlet has alot of insight and intelligence. No he can't control his insanity.
